Peshawar—Institute of Management Sciences, on June 16th 2011, hosted a panel discussion on the topic of ‘Social Sciences: Prospects and Challenges to Pakistani Society and Academia’. The distinguished panelists included Dr. Nasser Ali Khan, the Director of Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar. Dr. Anwar H. Siddique, - President Council of Social Sciences Pakistan. Dr. Taj Muharram Khan-Political Science Dept, University of Peshawar. Dr. Nasir Jamal - Vice Chancellor, Kohat University and the discussion was moderated by Dr. Syed Waqar Hussain, a faculty member at IM Sciences.
Dr. Anwar Siddique mentioned the negligence carried out in many government departments whereby the bureaucracy is given the charge of running the academic institutions instead of qualified experts of the relevant field. The discussion was attended by a large number of students, media representatives and academicians belonging to various institutes.
